Matt Smith continues to kill it in his post-Doctor Who career. Monday (January 4), we saw the first peek at Smith in the zombie film Patient Zero set for this fall, and he has Pride & Prejudice & Zombies in theaters next month. Now comes the first sizzle reel for his very sumptuous-looking Netflix drama The Crown, in which Smith stars as the Duke of Edinburgh to wife Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy). The 10-part series has been written by Peter Morgan, who wrote the play The Audience, which explored the Queen’s professional relationships with Britain’s various Prime Ministers throughout the second half of the 20th century. (John Lithgow appears as Sir Winston Churchill in The Crown.) Smith features quite prominently in this trailer: he gets to speechify a bit, a skill he honed very well during his time on Doctor Who.

The Crown is expected to bow sometime later this year.
