Murray Gold: Doctor Who - Series 9 (Original Television Soundtrack)

Welcome to this week’s Doctor Who‘s Day Roundup, in which we go off around the various dimensions of the Internet with a bag that is bigger on the inside, and stuff it full of Whovian gubbins, then bring it back here and nail it into a big and bulging blog post.

And we start this week with a beautifully heartwarming tale, starring both Peter Capaldi and Christopher Eccleston, and young Whovian named Daniel. Daniel has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and currently this means he’s in a hospital bed often in pain, and is fed intravenously. He had hoped to visit the London Doctor Who festival, but couldn’t go and meet some of the actors from the show, as he had already done with Matt Smith, so this was a bitter blow. But that’s when magical things started to happen.

Thanks largely to some sterling work by Doctor Who fans, the fan sites Geek Syndicate, Bad Wilf and the Twitter hashtag #drwhodaniel, Daniel started to receive various Doctor Who-related items and messages, including a video from Noel Clarke, and even a visit from Frances Barber (Madame Kovarian):

Steven Moffat sent a video:

As did the Seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy, and Ingrid Oliver (aka Osgood):

Best of all, Daniel had a visit from the Doctor himself:

And here’s the autographed picture Peter left Daniel:

Then Christopher Eccleston sent Daniel the following message, in which he once again becomes the Ninth Doctor, for a short while at least:

Here’s what else has been going on in space and time this week:

• The Fourth Doctor and Romana are back in audio form:

• This seems like a fair point:

• That’s no screwdriver:

• Cutepaldi, anyone?

• And Clara AWWWWswald:

• Rose and her two best friends:

• The Eighth Doctor delivers the Twelfth Doctor’s speech from the end of “The Zygon Inversion”:

• And, of course, we’re all preparing for the Christmas special, “The Husbands of River Song”, and when it comes to Christmas TV, Doctor Who is definitely a head of the competition:

• Who would win in a fight between Arya Stark (Maisie Williams’ character in Game of Thrones) and Ashildr/Me?

• And finally, here’s every story from all nine seasons of Doctor Who (since 2005) put into historical order. It’s fair to say the Doctor gets about a bit:
