We all interpret sound differently, and each of us has a preference when it comes to accents, but we can agree on one thing: A British accent is dead sexy.
But, does one region trump others?
According to British Airways, who did a recent survey of 1,000 Americans, the accent of Glasgow, Scotland is the most appealing, reports the U.K.’s Telegraph.
The survey results came back with 25% of the participants voting for Glaswegian as the most sexy accent. The poll points out that some American participants confused the Scottish accent for Scouse, which is slang for a Liverpool accent.
At the end of the day, it’s not a competition. Both accents are nice. We wouldn’t kick a Glaswegian or Scouse accent out of bed for eating crackers (if an accent could eat).
If you can’t recall what a Glaswegian accent sounds like, X-Men star James McAvoy hails from Glasgow. Here he is chatting with talk show host Jonathan Ross, just showing off his sexy accent all over the place:
Do we know any other actors who are native to Glasgow? Oh, possibly this guy:
In the category for Best British accent, 007’s Sean Connery came in first, with England’s Hugh Grant (Bridget Jones’s Diary) and Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game) coming in second and third, respectively.
On the other hand, 1,000 Britons were surveyed, with New Yorkers having the most recognizable accent. And in terms of favorite actors with the most appealing voices, the top three were Morgan Freeman (London Has Fallen), Dolly Parton (Gnomeo and Juliet), and Reese Witherspoon (This Means War), in that order.
