The BBC has officially confirmed that Jenna Coleman will leave Doctor Who during Season 9, the first episode of which begins tomorrow (September 19).

Her departure (and therefore the departure of Clara Oswald from the TARDIS) is already the subject of intense media speculation, and will take place at an undisclosed point during the season. She revealed in an interview with Nick Grimshaw at BBC Radio 1 this morning that she has already filmed her final scenes and made her emotional farewell to the cast and crew.

Here’s the full interview:

In a statement for the Doctor Who website, Peter Capaldi offered this comment: “Jenna has been absolutely brilliant. I think she’s wonderful in the show, and she’s my favorite companion.”
