Were these girls separated at birth? (YouTube/HBO)

If you were up late on Wednesday night (April 29) you may have spotted American actress Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) on The Tonight Show as Game of Thrones’ Daenerys Targaryen.

If you missed Wiig’s chat with Jimmy Fallon in real-time, the story was trending all day yesterday and is still trending today.

Here’s the clip if you’d like a refresher:

We weren’t the only ones who noticed the Saturday Night Live alum donning a blonde wig, shoulder dragon, and British accent (that went in and out) because Emilia Clarke, who portrays the easily recognizable character, went to her Instagram account to share her thoughts on the performance.

We thought Wiig’s portrayal was amazingly funny, but what did Clarke think?

Check out her response below:

We’ll take that as a thumbs-up from Clarke.

If you’re wondering what the British actress meant in her Instagram caption where she writes, “Book me my ticket for ‘Welcome to Me’ please,” she’s talking about Wiig’s film that premieres tonight (May 1).

Wiig portays a lottery winner who commits $15 million dollars to financing her own TV show. When her character is asked what the show will be about, her response simply is, “Me.”

On Anglophenia and our sister blog Mind the Gap we talk about the culture gap between the U.S. and U.K. It may just be us, but it seems that gap has been made slightly smaller with these two wonderful actresses’ exchange.

What do you think about this British-American crossover?
