Just in case there were any die-hard Cumbergangers who refused to believe in Benedict’s engagement to the award-winning director, playwright, actress and singer Sophie Hunter on the grounds that they have very, very rarely been seen in public together; last night they made a very public debut at the New York premiere of The Imitation Game.
And thanks to his insane promotional schedule right now, the world is suddenly not short of information on a romance that had been kept incredibly discreet until that notice appeared in The Times.
Benedict told the Telegraph that the public response has been delightful: “It’s a crazy old love bomb to drop and the amount of love that comes back to you, that was the thing that we are both just sort of bowled over by. It’s wonderful.”
