Magneto and Professor X playing nice. (MovieLine)

Sir Patrick Stewart was “jet-lagged out of his mind” but even so he was chuffed to talk with the amped up audience at Comicpalooza, in Houston, TX, after practically coming directly from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Stewart’s character, Charles Xavier, was vaporized in the third installment of the film franchise, X-Men: The Last Stand, and he, like the audience, was under the impression that his “X-Men days were over.” He admits to being puzzled himself and playfully asks the audience, “If you were vaporized, how can you be in the next X-Men movie?” He invites suggestions, going so far to say, “Anybody got any ideas how that came about?”

Check out his answer and some other teasers, below:

Stewart doesn’t want to tempt fate but predicts it’s going to be the “X-Men of X-Men pictures.” He’s looking forward to reuniting with his original director Bryan Singer and his fellow actors. Singer is just as psyched, Tweeting the casting announcement in 2012:

The film stars a buffet of big name actors including Hugh Jackman, Sir Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore,  Omar Sy and Peter Dinklage. It will hit theaters on July 18, 2014.
