With The Great Gatsby film coming on May 10, Interscope Records has added to the excitement surrounding the film by releasing songs from the soundtrack over the past couple weeks. First they released a sampler of the entire album. Then Lana Del Rey’sYoung and Beautiful” was released. This weekend the cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” by Beyoncé and Andre 3000 was played for the first time on producer Mark Ronson’s radio show.

Sneaking under the hype radar is Emeli Sandé’s cover of Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s “Crazy in Love.” Interscope made the song available on Soundcloud a few days ago. Unlike the Beyoncé and Andre 3000 cover of “Back to Black,” Sandé’s cover is a very straightforward adaptation. While her arrangement is jazzified, Sandé remains so loyal to the original that she can even be mistaken for Queen Bey herself.

As we saw with Beyoncé’s cover for the soundtrack, it can be difficult to tackle a song so defined by the original artist. “Crazy in Love” launched Beyoncé’s solo career, previewing the powerhouse artist that she would become. It escalated her to queen status as is evident this year with her Super Bowl performance and her upcoming tour. Listen below:

Whether you like Sandé’s cover or not, it is the perfect song for one of the infamous Jay Gatsby parties sure to be featured in the film.

What do you think of Sandé’s version?
