The new trailer for Peter Jackson’s film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has been released by Warner Bros with BBC’s Sherlock star Martin Freeman taking on the lead role of Bilbo Baggins. He runs out of the village declaring to the rest of the hobbits, “I’m going on an adventure!” If he only knew what’s to come.

The trailer’s arrival coincides perfectly with Tolkien Week which celebrates September 22, better known as Hobbit Day, the birthdate of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, according to The American Tolkien Society. This year’s celebration of Tolkien Week is twice as special with September 21 marking the 75th anniversary of the publication of The Hobbit.

Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood makes an appearance as Frodo with Luke Evans, Hugo Weaving, Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Cate Blanchett, Sir Ian McKellen and BBC alum Andy Serkis (Einstein and Eddington) and Richard Armitage (Sparkhouse, Robin Hood) rounding out the cast.

The film has a December 14 release date.
