9. Picasso and Modern British Art

James Tissot, 'Portsmouth Dockyard' (detail) circa 1877 (Tate)

The Tate Britain has several shows this summer that explore British art in an international perspective. Picasso and Modern British Art looks at Picasso’s influence on Britain’s art world but it also looks at Picasso’s personal fondness for the country. Migrations: Journeys into British Art looks at the impact of immigration on Britain and its art since 1500.

Anyone interested in British art of any period will find Tate Britain’s YouTube channel fascinating, with artists reflecting on their work and pieces in the collections in video series such as “This is Britain” and “TateShots.”
