For years people have been giving this one simple piece of advice to all aspiring songwriters; go and listen to Buddy Holly, it will do you nothing but good.

And to emphasize this point, an astonishingly varied collection of musicians — from Sir Paul McCartney to Nick Lowe, Patti Smith to Cee Lo Green — have put together a tribute album to the great man, called “Rave On Buddy Holly”, which features some of his best-known and most-loved songs.
