Bob Hope

There’s a British gag which goes: “The Americans have got Johnny Cash, Bob Hope, and Stevie Wonder, we’ve got no cash, no hope and no bloody wonder!”

And yet, if you read into his early life, you’ll find that Bob Hope is as British as withering scorn. Born in Eltham, London in 1903, he moved to the US at the age of five, and became a US citizen twelve years later. He’s officially one of ours.
