Colin Firth

Now that Colin Firth has his Oscar, he’s readying a return to the stage after more than a decade away.

According to The Daily Mail, the 50-year-old King’s Speech star has been cast in the Harold Pinter classic, Betrayal. Firth’s last West End performance was in 2000, when he played Ned/Walker in Three Days of Rain at London’s Donmar Warehouse.

In Betrayal, which is slated to open this fall, Firth’s character of Jerry will have an extra-marital affair with Emma, who will be played by Kristin Scott Thomas. Both Brits appeared together in Anthony Minghella‘s 1996 drama, The English Patient.

“Colin has wanted to go on stage for a long while,” an insider revealed. “He’ll do ‘Betrayal’ after he completes filming ‘Gambit’ with Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman.”
