Keira Knightley, Gemma Arterton

Christopher Nolan‘s third and final Batman installment is finally starting to come together. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the British-American writer and director will meet with a host of actresses looking to play Bruce Wayne’s love interest or the film’s lead villainess in the next two weeks.

Leading the pack for the Brits are Keira Knightley and Gemma Arterton. The 25-year-old Knightley’s name has been attached to 2012’s Dark Knight Rises for months, after Deadline reported in November that she and Rachel Weisz were on Nolan’s wishlist of leading females.

Arterton’s name is also on everyone’s lips these days. Earlier this week, the 24-year-old Tamara Drewe beauty earned a BAFTA Rising Star nomination. And her year is only going to get better as she readies for major parts in a forthcoming Robert Capa biopic and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Adding The Dark Knight Rises to her seemingly full plate could only make her a household name for good.

Anne Hathaway remains in the running as well, but Jessica Biel, Kate Mara (127 Hours, Iron Man 2), and English actress Charlotte Riley, who appeared in 2008’s Easy Virtue with Biel, have been added to the mix. It seems that Nolan has his job cut out for him. Filming is slated to get underway in May.
