The cast of MTV's 'Skins'

Guess all of the promos worked: MTV’s Skins, the U.S. remake of the British teen drama seen on BBC America, has proven a huge ratings success for the channel. In its first airing on Monday (January 17), it received a stunning 3.26 million viewers and garnered the largest audience in the core 12-34 demographic for any series premiere in MTV’s history. The Skins premiere actually drew more viewers in that demo than the launches of ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars as well as CW’s Gossip Girl, 90210, and The Vampire Diaries.

Meanwhile, the launch of the U.S. remake of Being Human on Syfy scored 1.96 million viewers and was that channel’s biggest winter series premiere in six years.

There’s a great appetite for remakes of British shows right now: just a couple of weeks ago, Showtime’s adaptation of the British dramedy Shameless provided the premium channel with its largest drama premiere numbers in 7 years.

Did you watch any of these shows? What did you think?
