It finally happened! Russell Brand and Katy Perry became husband and wife in northern India on Saturday (October 23).

The BBC reports that the British comedian/actor and the American pop star exchanged vows in a private ceremony at the lavish Aman-e-Khas resort outside the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary. The 35-year-old former bad boy wore traditional Indian attire while his 25-year-old bride donned a sari.

"The very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couple's closest family and friends, was performed by a Christian minister and long time friend of the Hudson [Perry] Family," said a Perry family spokesperson.

The pair first met at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2009 and became engaged that December. In recent weeks, there was much speculation about the location surrounding the couple's nuptials, which also included 21 camels, elephants and horses as well as a host of dancers and musicians.

Brand and Perry continued their celebration on Sunday (October 24) at the Taj Rambagh Palace Hotel, the former home of the Maharaja and Maharani of Jaipur, where P. Diddy was rumored to take the stage.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brand!
