It’s being adapted into an MTV series here in the U.S., and today, a Skins movie has been announced. The Guardian says that “shooting would begin in September on a film to be released in summer 2011.” But this will not be an adaptation – executive producer Steve Christian told The Guardian that the film would bring back old characters from the first four series while also introducing new ones. Creator Bryan Elsley will co-write the screenplay with staff writer Jack Thorne, and another staffer, Charles Martin will direct. Christian adds that he doesn’t “want to do is to make a 90 minute episode of Skins. It would be a complete disaster.”
