I have registered here, to plea that do not ruin a good thing, don’t make a US version of the show just broadcast at the same time as the UK. Don’t take it off BBC America it is the only way I get to see my most favorite show. This is all due to my DVR suddenly stopped recording the show I immediately went into to frantic mode. Thinking they removed it, I came to the site to try to read the latest and the forums were just confusing. I am a United States Marine and have been for the last 14 years, I have owned 32 cars and absolutely love this show so much that my wife and six children now sit and watch loving the battle of wit and taste on the show. So here it is please don’t change the cast, the show or disturb them in anyway. I would gladly pay for this as I would HBO or any other of the useless channels.

Hi ssgtkilljoy and welcome to the forum.
Top Gear have no plans to do a US version. In the words of Mr. Clarkson “They just don’t get it” in a reference to the humour and the odd slagging off of cars. As for the broadcast of TG at the same time as the UK that leads to many problems. Due to the way the BBC is funded and their rights they are not allowed to screen shows outside of the UK. One of the main issues being the music that is used and not just for TG but for other shows to. Also there are no adverts on the BBC so when the show is moved on to BBC Worldwide for sales oversea’s they have to edit music and cut alot out to fit in adverts. Why they just don’t keep it in it’s full glory and make it longer with adverts is really a no brainer.
It is good to hear that you and your family love watching TG. That was one of the aims of Andy Willman and Clarkson when they revampted TG in 2002. There are ways to seeing TG in all it’s glory. Firstly you could ask to be posted to a UK base some where in the world as I am told they have live feeds to the BBC or you could final gear and I will leave it at that. Do you check in at the TG web site? Link http://www.topgear.com/uk/ It’s updated every day but some videos may not be allowed to be viewed outside the UK but it will give you an insight to what the guys are up to and their thoughts on things along with others that work? (have fun more like) at TG

Thank you for your reply, all the more reason to convince my wife for us to retire in England.

Can’t wait to stop by during our visit.

I have just as strong feelings about the show. I watch every time it’s shown on BBCA, it doesn’t matter how many times I have seen it. So there are some this side of the pond that get it!
