Henry married his third wife, Jane Seymour, a former lady-in-waiting to Anne Boleyn, only days after Anne’s execution. Jane was the only one of Henry’s wives to produce a male heir, the future King Edward VI. Patient, gracious and demure, she was also considered Henry’s favorite and was the only wife to receive a queen’s funeral when she died shortly after childbirth.
At the court of Henry VII the young orphan became a page to two-year-old Prince Henry, and a close friendship was forged that continued long after the Prince became King.
