Guillermo del Toro is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, producer, and novelist.
In his filmmaking career, del Toro has alternated between Spanish dark fantasy pieces, such as “The Devil’s Backbone” and “Pan’s Labyrinth” and more mainstream American movies, such as “Blade II,” “Hellboy” and “MAMA.”
Del Toro’s work is characterized by a strong connection to fairy tales and horror, with an effort to infuse visual or poetic beauty. He has a life-long fascination with monsters, which he considers symbols of great power. His summer blockbuster, “Pacific Rim,” which he wrote and directed, will be released on July 12th.
