As we reported yesterday, the Fox U.S. remake of BBC AMERICA’s remarkable Broadchurch, entitled Gracepoint, is heading for your screens this fall, and they’ve just put up the first trailer, to set the scene.
If you’ve seen Broadchurch, not much of this will be surprising in terms of story, but of course it’s strange to see the same events happen to entirely different people, but with the same one common face—David Tennant and his nearly-beard—still endlessly investigating the case.
And keep an ear out for his accent, as David has already told the Times Colonist that he had to have special help to try and keep him on the southern side of the Canadian border, especially as the location shoot was based in Victoria, British Columbia: “My dialect coach is giving me notes saying I’m starting to sound too Canadian. I’m not sounding Scottish on set anymore. I’m told some of my abouts and beens are all going a bit wrong.”
David is joined by Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom), Michael Pena (End of Watch) and Nick Nolte (y’know… Nick Nolte!).
Naturally you can’t keep a good story down, or a good actor, and reports suggest that this time around things don’t pan out in quite the same way as in the original:
For fans of the original, it was confirmed recently that David will be returning for a sequel, as will Olivia Colman and Arthur Darvill.
