Coelurosauravus

Coelurosauravus is a flying reptile from the Permian period, about 250 million years ago. Unusually active and intelligent for a cold-blooded animal, this little guy seems capable of bonding with humans. Abby‘s pet Rex is based on a smaller reptile (about half Rex’s size) called Coelurosauravus jaeckeli, found in Germany. Extensions of its ribs formed wing-like structures, allowing it to glide. Predating the pterosaurs, Coelurosauravus is the first known flying vertebrate.
