The Hive Recap: Conditions of Existence

The Hive: Wet Lab & Library

“Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.”

Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

“Everything is biographical, Lucian Freud says. What we make, why it is made, how we draw a dog, who it is we are drawn to, why we cannot forget. Everything is collage, even genetics. There is the hidden presence of others in us, even those we have known briefly. We contain them for the rest of our lives, at every border we cross.”

Michael Ondaatje

“EXTINCTATHON, Monitored by MaddAddam. Adam named the living animals, MaddAddam names the dead ones. Do you want to play?”

Margaret Atwood, Oryx and Crake

“When sorrows come, they come not single spies. But in battalions!”

William Shakespeare, Hamlet

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”

Marie Curie

Helena and Paul seem connected a bit imo. while Paul looks like he was a POW, and therefore not responsible for what he said, Helena is not a captive … unless it is the Manchurian Candidate type, imo. Paul can/was? treated for PTSD, while Helena might have that opportunity if someone guides her.
