Experiencing the Seminole way!

Flying into the Florida Everglades on a seaplane was awesome. But there were too many gators beneath us for my likings though!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Florida and the Seminole people.  But was intrigued to learn about a culture I knew nothing about. They were so proud and stoic, like any true warrior culture. In many ways they remind of on the Maori in New Zealand. Their heritage and culture is so important to them, and it was an honor to be welcomed into their community.

I missed both the episodes about the Apaches and Seminoles. Very few stations in America show positive aspects of the tribes. The networks do show the alcoholics and druggies of the tribes reinforcing their stereotypes. I remember getting interviewed by a journalist that said my life was boring because I didn’t have a drug or alcohol problem. Students abroad are taught about the tribes in a positive manner but not so in America. The schools in Kenya teach about Wounded Knee I & II. In America? Never!
