If you are visiting, you need to know that you don’t go to A&E (in the states, it is a television network) you want to find an Emergency Room – Usually referred to as an ER.
Also, you want to have the phone number to your credit/debit card company in case you loose your wallet (and have the card numbers somewhere else so you can report it as soon as you know they are missing)

The local Humane Society is usually better than the ASPCA.

Also, it’s FAR more acceptable to obtain a pet through them than through a traditional pet store. If the store doesn’t have an agreement with a local HS or licensed breeder (which will be prominently posted), any puppies/kittens will likely be from a “puppy mill” (or the feline equivalent), which are the height of animal cruelty.

It depends on the size of the building. I live in a fairly small one (20 units) and if enough tenants take measures (I use baits), the roaches can be driven out.

Eh, in some places they do. However, calling in the exterminators is massive overkill (and not in a good way); they can’t do anything you can’t do by buying some roach gel such as Combat and applying it to the hinges of your cabinet doors.

Note that maintaining roach control in an apartment building pretty much requires cooperation from everyone in the building, or they just reinfest you from your neighbor’s house.
