Talent agent Alex, in the middle of a painful divorce, and his colleague Helen, whose fiancé recently passed away, have a one-night stand that ends in tears. His tears, not hers. Alex views this unfortunate experience as a perfectly good basis for a long-term relationship. Helen doesn’t.

After work the next day, Alex doggedly stalks Helen around town, trying to convince her to become his girlfriend. Later that evening he drops in on Helen, alone in her apartment with life-size photographs of her dead fiancé and a bottle of red wine. Will there be more tears?
