Professor Chris Phillips went to Imperial College London from Cambridge in 1979, joining the faculty in 1985. He is currently Head of the Optoelectronics section. He has published more than 220 papers, and graduated 23 PhD students with a 100% success rate.
His research centers on Quantum Optical Effects in Nanostructures – best known for making things vanish temporarily with invisible laser beams, but his team has also developed laser-based biomedical imaging techniques with Cancer clinicians and across the Life Sciences.
