Recap: Season 1
In the first season of Last Restaurant Standing, nine couples competed to open their own restaurants with the backing of world-renowned chef Raymond Blanc. Blanc put the couples through several challenging tasks. Over the course of the season, the couples had to host large formal events for a demanding client on a strict budget, make lunch for hundreds of scientists, develop creative marketing plans to make their businesses successful, host gourmet events featuring local produce, train staff members, organize a three-course hot meal on the lawns of Blenheim Palace for 50 important guests, and produce microwaveable meals for high-end stores.
The couples (in order of elimination):
9th place: Mature university student Chris and his partner Jade featured French fine dining.
8th place: Jazz drummer Sam and his wife Jacqui, an actress and waitress, created a restaurant with live jazz performances.
7th place: Nicola, a home cook and successful businesswoman, and her son, Tom, had a 1920s theme for their restaurant with locally sourced ingredients.
6th place: Eddie and his older brother Michael, a communications consultant, served up traditional British cuisine.
5th place: Martin, a prison caterer, and his fiancée, Emma, previously worked in a bingo hall. Their concept was a simple, minimalist restaurant with a warm atmosphere and friendliness.
4th place: Lloyd and Adwoa, an engaged couple who once ran market stalls selling food, served up Ghanain cuisine.
3rd place: Advertising copywriter Grant and his wife, Laura, had an original concept: their restaurant was "a Bond villain hideout" featuring food with a modern Scottish twist.
2nd place: Sisters and children's entertainers, Jess and Laura, focused on organic food.
Winner: Jeremy, a chef in the Marines, and his wife, Jane (see above), featured modern cuisine. They focused on the small details, ensuring that their customers left with a lasting memory of excellent food and service.
