Nicholas Brocklehurst (played by Ben Daniels)

Nicholas Brocklehurst is the Counsellor of External Affairs in the British Embassy. He joined the Foreign Office from the Army. Recruited by Intelligence, he now serves as MI6's (British equivalent of the FBI) man in the Embassy. The job of embedded agent suits his style. His moral compass is adjusted to ends, not means. Sociable but essentially a loner, few people know the real Nicholas. He has no problem mixing personal and private life if it serves his cause. His priority is to protect the UK Government's political and diplomatic interests. He is Brydon's right hand man, but while the Ambassador deals with diplomatic relations between the US and the UK, Brocklehurst finds his attentions diverted to an unidentifiable body, washed up in a creek in Virginia, which might be that of a British soldier.

Daniels is best-known for starring opposite Viva Blackpool's Sarah Parish in the series, Cutting It, in which he played the philandering Finn.
