The Prisoner is not a number; he's a free man despite going by the appellation
"Number Six" in the super secret island town known as The Village. Before arriving at The Village, Number Six
used to hold a top secret position in the British government. But he resigned and, because of his resignation,
he was abducted and taken to The Village, a place where everything is cheerful, bright, and impossible to escape.
Number Six is a man trying to live by his principles, despite being
interrogated, bribed, experimented on, and tempted.
Number Six does not know why he has been sent to The Village, but he knows he
wants out. His personal mission is to find out who brought him to the village and why, and, eventually, to
escape.
Number Six's primary nemesis is always the new Number Two, whose main mission
is to find out why Number Six resigned. To do that he or she must break Number Six's will by any means
necessary. With a team of scientists, super secret double agents, and the best technology of 1967, each Number
Two (under Number One's constant observation) batters away at Number Six who remains stoicly silent.
That would be telling.
Before being taken to the village, Number Six drove a Lotus Seven, a car well
suited to both the race track and the roadway.
