London's Kensington Palace was the favorite royal residence until the death of George II in 1760.

When William III bought the Jacobean mansion in 1689 it was known as the Nottingham House, and during his ownership he outfitted it for royalty. This was Queen Victoria's primary residence until she moved into Buckingham Palace.

Kensington's current residents include Princess Alice, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke and Duchess of Kent and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. The Palace was also home to Princess Margaret, but it is probably best known as Princess Diana's home, where millions of people brought flowers to mourn her death.
