A stunningly versatile comic actress, Catherine Tate launched her career with an appearance on the BBC series Casualty before she specialized in comedic performance. However, it was The Catherine Tate Show, her eponymous variety-sketch vehicle, that made her a star. Tate's characters on that series have become part of England's national consciousness. Specifically, Lauren the amazingly in-your-face teenager whose catchphrase "Am I bovvered? Do I look bovvered?" can still be heard echoing in playgrounds across Britain.
