Series 2, Episode 1

Welcome back to Wernham Hogg paper merchants, Slough branch. It's been a few weeks since David gallantly passed on a promotion, saving his branch from the chop. A welcome party for the new staff from the shut-down Swindon branch is on today's agenda.

Tim and Gareth debate who's on top: Gareth as Team Leader or Tim in his new position as Senior Sales Rep. Team Leader is just a title, Tim tells Gareth. No one respects it, just like milk monitor. That's not true, Gareth counters, because if people were rude to him he used to give them their milk last... so it was warm.

Tim warns Dawn and Lee to cease mucking about, as the top brass is coming by, like Neil, David's new boss, and Jennifer.

Gareth offers an off-color, racial joke for David to tell the staff during the official introductions. David isn't nervous. Sure, it's daunting for Neil to speak before everyone. Not for David. He's done impressions.

David starts into a routine after Neil's well-received introduction. The staff isn't laughing at the jokes David reads his off torn notepaper. Because they aren't focusing.

After David tells Gareth's joke to a few new staff members, Jennifer and Neil give him a talking to. There have been complaints that he told a racist joke. David retells the joke, with Gareth giggling by his side. Jennifer finds it offensive.

People just can't keep up with what's acceptable. Gareth's dad, for example, is not as cosmopolitan as Gareth. He just doesn't know all the new trendy words, like he'll say "birds" instead of "women."

David comes out to the main floor to talk to the Swindon staff. He tells them they need to chill out about his jokes. This is what he does. Fact: They will never have another boss like him, "basically a chilled out entertainer."

After Tim tells Dawn he's too busy to wind Gareth up, he realizes he's been caddish. They make up, dancing at Tim's desk. Lee walks in and pushes Tim violently against the wall.
