This week's installment finds Dawn and Lee having a row. Their fight prompts Gareth to give his take on marriage: "inevitably the sex suffers."
But today is about customer care, and David has brought in a facilitator, Rowan, to help guide the team through various exercises...even though he could have done it himself.
Before the training starts, Tim comforts Dawn after her argument with Lee. Gareth helps by letting her know that "Monkey Alan" from the warehouse fancies her, even if no one else does.
The training is underway. Rowan tells the staff that he will be leading the session, under David, and he kicks off with a somewhat dated video. But, as David points out, "a good idea is a good idea forever."
After the video, Rowan and David start "the dreaded role play." Rowan acts the part of a very bad hotel manager, and David is the complaining guest. There is no right or wrong in this scenario, but David manages to faze Rowan. So they reverse roles. When Rowan complains that his room, 362, is a mess, David replies there is no room 362. Moral: "Sometimes the complaints will be false."
Rowan launches a trust exercise: ultimate fantasy. Rowan's fantasy is to have his own island. David requests clarification but decides that he would like to live forever. Gareth's ultimate fantasy? "Two lesbians, sisters, I'm just watching."
Rowan moves on: motivation. Keith admits that his job is "pretty brainless," and he ultimately wants to play in a band. David's been there, done that. He fields questions about his rock'n'roll past, then runs home to get his guitar to share his original compositions, like "Freelove Freeway."
They break for lunch.
The staff training resumes: team-building exercises. In pairs, they try to solve a riddle which prompts some questions from Gareth: Why does the farmer own a fox? Why doesn't he have a wife? If he is gay, should he be allowed near animals? Whilst the exercise continues, Dawn and Lee kiss in the corridor.
David, Gareth, and Tim begin to debate the meaning of a slide Rowan has put up. While Rowan sits in confusion, Tim implodes. He apologizes for his rudeness, announces he is quitting, and walks out. Rowan walks out after him (he obviously couldn't handle the pressure, David points out).
Tim returns to ask Dawn out for a drink since she split up with Lee. But she hasn't split with him. David breaks the tense silence to ask Gareth for the guitar.
