The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles® (BAFTA Los Angeles), which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has announced Alan Cumming will return as host of the 2012 Britannia Awards presented by BBC AMERICA on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. This marks the fourth time Alan Cumming will host the prestigious award show. In addition, The Britannia Awards are pleased to announce that Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, and Josh Gad will be among those presenting awards at this year’s show.
“I’m so happy to be back hosting my 4th Britannia Awards,” said Alan Cumming. “It’s 15 years since I first came to Hollywood and what better way to commemorate that than to be hosting a celebration of the best of British AND Tinseltown. I’m excited to see old friends and raise a few glasses to the best in our business – and be a bit mischievous too of course.”
The Britannia Awards are BAFTA Los Angeles’ highest accolade, a celebration of achievements honoring individuals and companies that have dedicated their careers to advancing the entertainment arts. The awards are presented annually at a gala dinner, where peers and colleagues celebrate the work and accomplishments of these distinguished honorees. Proceeds from the gala ceremony support BAFTA Los Angeles’ on-going education, scholarship, community outreach and archival projects.
“We’re so pleased that we were able to secure Alan to host this year’s Awards. We owe thanks to the producers of ‘The Good Wife’ who were kind enough to rearrange their production schedule to allow for Alan to be with us,” said Britannia Chairman, Nigel Lythgoe. “We’re grateful that we can do justice to the extraordinary caliber of talent represented in this year’s honorees with our esteemed host and presenters.”
The 2012 Britannia Award honorees include multi-Academy® and BAFTA Award-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis who will receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film presented to him by Steven Spielberg, acclaimed actor Daniel Craig who will receive the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year presented to him by Harrison Ford, Academy® and BAFTA Award-winning director Quentin Tarantino who will receive the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Emmy Award-winning co-creators of “South Park” and Tony Award-winning co-creators of “The Book of Mormon” who will receive the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy as presented to them by Josh Gad, and video game designer Will Wright who will receive the Albert R.
