The Great British Baking Show has found its new co-host: Little Britain star Matt Lucas.

Lucas will join co-host Noel Fielding and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in the show’s familiar baking tent after Sandi Toksvig announced her departure in January.

“I’m chuffed to bits to be joining the most delicious show on television,” Lucas said in a statement. “I can’t wait to break bread with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the brilliant bakers.”

“And bearing in mind my love of cake,” he added playfully,“I’ve already ordered some much larger trousers in anticipation. See you in the tent!”

Leith added with a similar sense of fun: “The combination of Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding! Will we stop laughing and get any filming done?”

Shooting on season 11 of The Great British Baking Show – known in the U.K. as The Great British Bake off – is due to begin this spring, British network Channel 4 confirmed. In the U.S., the show streams on Netflix.

It adds to a busy year for actor-comedian Lucas. According to his Little Britain partner-in-crime David Walliams, the popular sketch show which aired on BBC America back in the day is “definitely” coming back at some point in the foreseeable future.

In the meantime, you can enjoy a taste of Lucas’s infectious sense of humor by watching this amusing anecdote he shared on The Graham Norton Show.
