We’ve already reported on Sherlock co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss having a new TV series called Dracula. Now ABC has their own Dracula-driven series, but it’s being told from the female perspective, with the reimagining called The Brides.

It was announced last week that Gina Torres (Pearson) will take the lead as Cleo Phillips, one of Dracula’s three brides. Katherine Reis (Claws) will play a co-bride. The third actress to round out the trio has yet to be revealed.

And who will be play the bloodsucker who charmed these ladies?

You can look for ER alum Goran Višnjić to take on the role of Count Dracula, reports Deadline. More recently, he’s been seen in the sci-fi series Timeless (2016-2018) and 2019’s Santa Clarita Diet. You may have spotted him in Doctor Who as Nikola Tesla in the episode “Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror” that premiered earlier this year.

Okay, now that we’re caught up on what he’s been up to — what can we expect from the series? It’s being described as a sexy vampire soap “about empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy-and their non-traditional family.” It sounds like a good start to us… you know we like a good female-led killer thriller.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who developed and produced Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, is on board to get this story to screen. He will produce and write the pilot, with Maggie Kiley (Riverdale/Sabrina) directing.

We’re all about healthy competition. Is there room on your watch list for two Draculas?
