Marvel’s Doctor Strange sequel is set to come out in 2021. We can look for Anglo favorite Benedict Cumberbatch to reprise the role of Dr. Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon who loses the ability to operate after injuring his hands in a car accident.
Feeling lost and without purpose, Dr. Strange heads to the Far East in search of a fix. If you missed it, here’s the trailer for the original 2016 movie:
It was recently announced that Michael Waldron is set to write the follow-up movie, reports ComingSoon.net. If his name sounds familiar, that’s because he’s the lead writer for the forthcoming Loki TV series. Busy guy!
It might sound like a lot to take on, but it was just mentioned that the Loki TV series has some sort of overlap with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. According to Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige, the two are “connected.” Doctor Strange did pop up in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, so this isn’t hugely surprising.
It’s not clear if Loki (Tom Hiddleston) would actually appear in the movie, but that would be kind of amazing. In addition to Cumberbatch, we can look for Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong and Elizabeth Olsen. There’s talk of Sam Raimi (Spider-Man franchise (2003-2007) to direct, but it’s not 100% confirmed just yet.
