Last year we reported on Hugh Laurie (Veep, House) reuniting with Veep creator Armando Iannucci for the new sci-fi/comedy series Avenue 5. The series is set to premiere on HBO in January 2020.

In the recently released clip (November 18), we see Laurie as the captain of a luxury tourism spaceship, saying, “Set your phasers to ‘fun’.” He sounds like the best boss ever. Except, things get un-fun pretty quickly.

Please note, the tease trailer is NSFW due to some colorful language:

The ship is in distress with things literally going sideways and all of the passengers taking a tumble. We also see Silicon Valley‘s Zach Woods as a ship customer service rep, saying, “This is a safe space, emotionally. Physically, we’re obviously in terrible danger.”

We appreciate his honesty, but this situation calls for composure under pressure. And that’s where the captain comes in. We’re just not sure where the captain’s head is. He’s definitely calm, but he may just have a really good poker face.

This trailer leaves us with more questions than answers, but we are definitely intrigued. In addition to Laurie and Woods, we can also look for Josh Gad as Herman Judd, the billionaire owner of Avenue 5.

In the meantime, there is plenty of Hugh Laurie to go around. His long-running series House (2004-2012) is available for re-watching over at Amazon Prime. In 2016, you may have spotted him as the main baddie in AMC’s The Night Manager series, opposite Tom Hiddleston. You can also look for him in 2020’s The Personal History of David Copperfield, also directed by Armando Iannucci.

Can a spaceship actually sink?
