When the Cats movie trailer was released, there was quite a reaction. The responses were mixed, with some people being creeped out and others delighted (we were in the latter camp).

Even so, Rebel Wilson, who takes on the role of Jennyanydots, is okay with it all.

Wilson recently talked to Cosmopolitan magazine, saying, “When the trailer came out, the response was pretty massive.”

We absolutely concur, talk about the Cats trailer was everywhere.

She went on to say, “There’s some people who were like ‘Oh my god’ because it is brand-new technology that’s CGI. I think people get confused because it’s essentially a dance movie in a lot of ways. So it really is all our own bodies. And yes, they’re covered in fur.”

Some fans on social media expressed issues with the fact that the actors weren’t wearing costumes and make-up, but instead their furry look was computer generated. As well, their faces were lacking… the cat nose and whiskers.

She commented on the confusion: “I think some people found it a bit creepy ’cause we’re people but we look a bit like cats dancing around.”

That’s where the suspension of disbelief comes in. Audience members know the actors aren’t cats, it calls on imagination.

Even so, the negative reactions haven’t impacted her in a bad way, with Wilson providing some foresight on what to expect, “I loved the reaction. I think it was a bit polarizing and people will be super curious to see the finished product.”

She makes a good point, the trailer is only a snippet and there’s more to come.

The Cats movie hits theaters on December 20.

ICYMI, you can circle back to this Anglo post with the trailer.

Dare we ask, which camp are you in!?
