Jeff Bridges got his start starring in series like Sea Hunt (1958-1960) and The Loner (1965). He’s returning to TV, taking the lead in the FX series The Old Man, reports Deadline.

Bridges will play former CIA agent, Dan Chase. According to the series description, he “absconded.” So, he didn’t necessarily leave on the best terms. It’s been decades since he’s had contact with the CIA, but now there’s an assassin trying to take him out.

He’s on a mission to reconcile his past and avoid… getting killed.

The folks at FX are pretty excited about the casting, with Nick Grad co-president of programming saying, “Jeff Bridges is an iconic, extraordinary actor and to have him as the star of this series is an incredible moment for FX,” reports Deadline.

The Old Man is based on Thomas Perry‘s 2017 novel, with the script written by Black Sails co-creators Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine.

There’s no release date as of yet. But if you’ve got Jeff Bridges on the brain, you can look for him in more recent projects like 2018’s Bad Times at the El Royale and 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
