It looks as though we could have a new Brit acting dynasty on our hands: Ty Tennant, son of former Timelord David Tennant and actress wife Georgia Tennant (née Moffett), just made his TV acting debut in an episode of long-running U.K. medical drama Casualty.

Ty, 17, has three family members with Doctor Who credits: father David became the Tenth Doctor in 2005; mother Georgia guest-starred in the 2008 episode “The Doctor’s Daughter,” playing the Timelord’s cloned daughter Jenny, and grandfather Peter Davison became the Fifth Doctor in 1981.

Ty’s grandmother Sandra Dickinson is also an actor who appeared in the 1981 TV adaptation of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

After Ty’s episode of Casualty aired over the weekend, mother Georgia tweeted that she was “so proud” of her son. Amusingly, she also made light of the grisly way that her character died – in a lift shaft accident – when she appeared in Casualty a few years ago.

Though Casualty marks Ty’s TV debut, it isn’t his only screen appearance this month. He has a small role as Young Christopher Wiseman in Tolkien, the biographical drama starring Nicholas Hoult which opens in theaters Friday.

And he’s also been cast opposite Gabriel Byrne and Downton Abbey‘s Elizabeth McGovern in the new War of the Worlds TV series, which is in production now.
