Just as Hugh Grant teased in October, the cast of Four Weddings and a Funeral have reunited for a charity special – or “sequel-ette” as Grant cutely described it.
The special will air in the U.K. as part of the BBC’s Red Nose Day programming on March 15. In the U.S., it will air as part of NBC’s Comic Relief programming on May 23.
Comic Relief, the charity behind Red Nose Day, has now shared the first photo of the reunited cast, which includes Grant (Charles), Andie McDowell (Carrie), Dame Kristin Scott Thomas (Fiona), Rowan Atkinson (Father Gerald), John Hannah (Matthew), Anna Chancellor (Duckface), Sophie Thompson (Lydia), David Haig (Bernard), and James Fleet (Tom).
Whose turn is it to say 'I do' this time? 🤔👰💒

It’s no accident that the cast appear to be dressed for a wedding: the special is titled One Red Nose Day and a Wedding and will bring the characters back together for a fifth wedding.
Richard Curtis, who wrote the original film and the special, said in December: “It’s been really enjoyable working out what’s happened to all the characters – and now they get back together for the fifth wedding. Where, as usual, not everything will go as planned.”
Though she’s not pictured in the first look photo, the special will also include a new character played by Downton Abbey‘s Lily James. Original cast members David Bower (David), Robin McCaffrey (Serena), Rupert Vansittart (George), Simon Kunz (John), Sara Crowe (Laura), and Timothy Walker (Angus) are all reprising their roles, too.
It’s been directed by Mike Newell, who also helmed the original film.
Released in 1994, Four Weddings and a Funeral became a surprise international smash, winning four BAFTA awards, a Golden Globe (for Grant) and an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. Mindy Kaling is exec-producing a limited series remake for Hulu, which will include an appearance from MacDowell.
