Emilia Clarke (Me Before You) is returning to the big screen to star in Bridesmaids director Paul Feig‘s Last Christmas, premiering next year, November 9, 2019. Clarke is set to star opposite Henry Golding, who we just saw in the blockbuster Crazy Rich Asians and and is currently starring in A Simple Favor.

Emma Thompson (Johnny English Strikes Again) will be sharing writing duties with performance artist and playwright Bryony Kimmings (The Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer), which we can look for on November 9, 2019.

Now that we know who will be making the movie, what’s it about? ComingSoon.net has shared some new details, explaining Clarke’s character, Kate, works as an elf in an all-year Christmas shop.

She fumbles her way through London, making one bad decision after another. Until… she meets a new man, Tom (Golding). He can see past her flaws, including the bells on her elf shoes, and the two go from there.

So, in short, the storyline is still pretty limited, not exactly expanding on what’s installed for Kate and Tom, but we always trust Thompson when it comes to telling a good story.

This isn’t Thompson’s first time taking on writing duties, having also penned the script for 1995’s Sense and Sensibility, which won her an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. She also wrote Nanny McPhee (2005), Nanny McPhee Returns (2010), Effie Gray (2014) and Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016).

Is this going on your watch list?
