Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex, Cloverfield) will be pulling double-duty in the upcoming Apple TV thriller Are You Sleeping, portraying twin sisters Josie and Lanie, reports Deadline.

The 10-parter, adapted from a true-crime novel by Kathleen Barber, revolves around the mysterious death of the twins’ father. Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water) has also signed on to play an investigative reporter and true-crime podcaster who reopens the murder case and spearheads an investigation.

The brief synopsis makes us think of the real true-crime podcast, My Favorite Murder — a breakout hit hosted by comedians Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. The women, whose tagline is “Stay Sexy. Don’t get murdered,” analyze real murders and provide comical yet practical commentary.

While we don’t know much more about Spencer’s character, nor the podcast’s tone, the actress is known to bring humor to a lot of her roles, as seen in dramas like The Shape of Water and The Help. Possibly, we will see her funny side once again, balancing out the thriller’s dark subject matter.

If Caplan is slightly new to you, we’ve loved watching her opposite Anglo favorite Michael Sheen in the biographical series Master of Sex (2013-2016). In 2017, she starred in the BBC series Ill Behaviour, which was acquired by Showtime in the U.S. Caplan has also completed filming on the supernatural thriller Extinction, set to come out later this year.

Caplan is definitely one to watch, and in the case of Are You Sleeping — doubly so.  A premiere date has yet to be announced.

We’re so intrigued by actors playing on-screen twins, we rounded them up in a post, which you can find here.
