Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is back at it again, helming A Simple Favor, an adaptation of Darcey Bell‘s 2017 thriller novel by the same name.

The film is set to star A-listers Blake Lively (The Age of Adaline) and Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) in the leads. Lively will take on the role of Emily, who seems to have it all. She manages a successful career as a NYC fashionista and is the epitome of the perfect mother… at least that’s how it appears to her friend Stephanie (Kendrick).

Stephanie on the other hand is very lonely. Having lost her husband, she lives an isolated life in Connecticut, caring for her five-year-old son. She fills her time with video blogging. The single mom leans on Emily and thinks of her as her best friend, but then one day her bestie goes missing, leaving behind her husband and son.

Possibly, things weren’t as great as they seemed. Stephanie says in the new trailer, “Everybody has a dark side. Some of us are better at hiding it better than others.”

Out of shot, we hear a British accent, and that’s Emily’s husband describing her. But it’s not quite clear who this voice belongs to. Rupert Friend (Homeland) — a Brit — is also set to star in the film, but his character’s name has yet to be released. But, putting two and two together… That said, Emily is also seen canoodling with another man in the trailer, played by Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), who is also British.

The plot thickens…

Do you have any theories on what happened to Emily?
