Jane Seymour (Wedding Crashers) is hosting an on-screen get together in the forthcoming film Friendsgiving, reports Variety. And you’re all invited… to buy a ticket and watch from your local movie theater.
If you’re not familiar with the term “friendsgiving,” it’s a spin on the American holiday Thanksgiving. But rather than celebrating with family members, these get togethers are made up of friends.
Along with Seymour, the film will star Malin Åkerman (Billions) and Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls) in the leads. Åkerman will take on the role of Molly, a glamorous actress who is newly divorced. Seymour will play her Swedish mother, while Denning steps in as the recently dumped best-friend.
With the two newly single women going through major life changes, this friendsgiving sounds like perfect timing. According to the film’s description, the comedy is an ensemble and we can expect this “dysfunctional” dinner to be topped up with “close friends and strange acquaintances.”
We can look for other familiar faces rounding out the cast, including Aisha Tyler (Archer), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish) and Margaret Cho (Drop Dead Diva).
Nicol Paone (Pride and Loyalty) has not only written the script but is set to make her directorial debut. In addition to starring in the film, Åkerman will co-produce with Ben Stiller (Zoolander).
In the meantime, you can look for Seymour in 2018’s Little Italy, also starring Emma Roberts and Hayden Christensen. She’s completed filming on The War with Grandpa, opposite Robert De Niro, though the film has yet to be given a release date.
According to IMDB, Friendsgiving will hit theaters in 2019 on November 29… yep, Thanksgiving weekend!
