We loved Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf in last year’s TV adaptation of author Lemony Snicket‘s (proper name, Daniel Handler) A Series of Unfortunate Events. And, lucky for all of us, it hasn’t been a huge wait for season two, which is premiering on Netflix March 30.
Along with the air date, we’re now getting a first glimpse of season two with the just-released trailer. Season one covered the first four books in the 13 novel series, where Count Olaf becomes the guardian of three orphaned children, Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire (Presley Smith). He may sound like a selfless Samaritan, but really he has his eye on their inheritance.
The second season picks up with book five and takes us through to the ninth. Season three, which is already confirmed, will adapt the final set of books.
For now, you can enjoy a taste of season two and the antics of devious Count Olaf and the Baudelaire children:
It’s pretty brief, but we get the gist. Olaf promises his trio of charges a “nightmare,” proving that he’s still up to no good. The townspeople, armed with pitch forks, don’t seem too keen on the children either.
You can also look for Harris in the just-released film (December 22), Downsizing, opposite Matt Damon and Kristin Wiig. The story revolves around people shrinking down to thumbnail size and living a bigger life in a smaller world.
