Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones) is the latest addition to A Private War, a film already bursting at the scenes with brilliant actors.
According to Variety, it started filming in Jordan last year, and has since moved locations to London, where the Feud star will join Rosamund Pike, Tom Hollander and Jamie Dornan.
The film’s subject and the caliber of the cast bring to mind The Night Manager, but it is in fact a biopic detailing real events, proving life is often stranger than fiction.
It tells the story of fearless American journalist Marie Colvin (Rosamund Pike), who filed reports from conflict zones to British newspaper The Sunday Times. She carried on working despite losing her left eye in Sri Lanka in 2001, and eventually died during a rocket attack in 2012 while covering the war in Syria. Jamie plays Marie’s photographer, Paul Conroy, who accompanied her on that fateful final trip.
So far there are no details about which roles Tom and Stanley will play, but we don’t mind: we’re just happy to see the two actors on the same screen together. In many ways, Stanley is the American Tom Hollander, and Tom is the British Stanley Tucci — both are brilliant character actors, not to mention reliable indicators of a good movie, and they make whatever they’re in infinitely better.
In fact, the only difference is that Tom can’t say he’s had SNL dedicate a whole song to him. Someone get on it.
