The funtastic Rowan Atkinson is set to reprise his role as the James Bond-like (but, not really) Johnny English in the forthcoming third movie, set for release September 20 of this year.

The Johnny English film series, which kicked off in 2003 with a follow-up in 2011, are spy movie spoofs. In case you didn’t catch the earlier installments, let’s just say Atkinson’s Johnny is a teeny bit like the actor’s most beloved character, Mr. Bean, but with a dash of… mystery.

The first movie, simply called Johnny English, was co-written by Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Casino Royale, Skyfall). With those two on board, it wasn’t much of a stretch to think of Atkinson as an international playboy trying to save the world. It also starred Hollywood heavy hitter John Malkovich as a villain determined to steal Britain’s Crown Jewels.

In the second film, Johnny English Reborn, Atkinson teamed up with Anglo fan favorites, Rosamund Pike and Dominic West.

David Kerr (Fresh Meat) is set to direct Johnny English 3 (it’s official title is yet to be announced), with Purvis and Wade returning to write the screenplay. We can also look for Quantum of Solace star Olga Kurlenko.

Atkinson recently starred in the Love Actually Red Nose Day special in 2017. You can also catch him in the 2017 TV movie, Maigret: Night at the Crossroads.
